CO - DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL'S ADDRESS

Dear Delegates,
I am delighted to welcome you to the Eleventh Edition of the Sri Sri Academy, Kolkata Model United Nations, 2026. A legacy built on passionate debate, unexpected ideas and the people who have made this conference what it is today.
As Paris Geller so perfectly put it, “I had to tell my parents I was staying at a friend’s house just to come here. I chose you because I figured they’d never check since no one likes you.”
Honestly, that sums up every MUN season rather well.
MUNs have always filled me with a strange sense of dread. They are competitive, exhausting, nerve-wracking and, at times, absolutely brutal.
And yet, somewhere between fifteen research papers, ninety-two open tabs and the inevitable 3 a.m. crisis, there is something undeniably exciting about it all. Watching an absurd crisis evolve into something far bigger. Voting out an enemy with the most diplomatic arguments imaginable, only to lobby them five minutes later over our shared love for lip gloss. Never knowing what will happen next. Learning something you never expected to.
That is what I hope you find here. A space to negotiate, deliberate, create and, most importantly, make your own. Make it yours. Chase the thrill.
As Kanye put it, “We’re not trying to make it. We’re trying to make history.”
Now go make some.
And when in doubt, pray Holy Larp. Amen.
Until October,
Palaksi Goel,
Co-Deputy Secretary-General,
Sri Sri Academy Model United Nations, 2026
