UNDER SECRETARY GENERAL'S ADDRESS
A WORD FROM THE UNDER-SECRETARY GENERAL
If you are reading this,
first of all, why?
Most of you probably saw “Under-Secretary General” and immediately decided that this was too much text. In fact, I would be genuinely surprised if half of you even made it past the second Deputy Secretary.
But for those of you who did—
welcome.
You have officially made it to the funniest and coolest member of the Secretariat.
I have always believed that winning is what matters the most, and I always have to be at the top, but guess what?
I have come to realize that winners aren’t exactly the ones on top; the ones occupying that position lobby the head better than their peers.
And perhaps that is the perfect segue into one of my favourite lessons:
“I don’t play the odds. I play the man.”
— Harvey Specter
Know your room. Know your people. Know when to speak, when to negotiate, and when to change your approach.
Alas! Dear Delegates,
Welcome to SSMUN’26!
As your Under-Secretary General, I want you to know that you can come to me with your problems. Whether it is a committee crisis, a procedural doubt, or something that somehow became urgent at 11:47 P.M., and I am the guy who would laugh at those problems alongside you.
I have participated in most types of committees that conferences have to offer. So, apart from Lok Sabha—which is my committee—you can drop me a late-night text even if you’re from a different committee, and I will make sure that your problem gets resolved.
At the end of the day, however, MUN is about much more than winning.
“A diamond is merely a lump of coal that did well under pressure”
To me, that’s exactly what a Best Delegate stands for, not avoiding pressure, but embracing it.
That’s the price of stepping forward, and a price worth paying.
Always believe in being the best and maybe people don’t see you that way but at the end of the day…
Haters gonna hate,
Potatoes gonna potate,
Rotis gonna rotate,
Who cares?
Until October,
Sachin Bajaj,
Under-Secretary General,
SSMUN’26.
