CO - DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL'S ADDRESS

Dear delegates,
It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you all to the 11th edition of Sri Sri Academy, Kolkata Model United Nations 2026.
When I first stepped into a MUN committee, I was convinced of two things: first, that I had the best speech with absolutely no loopholes and second, that everyone in the room was going to listen to me. I was wrong on both counts. I was blank on all the POIs asked to me and I couldn’t convince people to be in my bloc.
That’s when I realized what MUN and real-world diplomacy is actually about. It’s not about being the loudest voice in the room or winning every argument. It’s about listening, adapting and the art of making someone else do things your way.
Preparing this conference for you all, to the very last bit has been a whirlwind of late nights and endless pressure. But it has all been worth it.
Whether this is your very first conference or your tenth, I promise you this: you will get nervous, you will lose your train of thought in open floors and you will have to compromise. But you’ll also make unexpected allies, write draft resolutions you’re proud of and be more sleep deprived than you thought you will be.
Be confident, be fearless. After all,
“Audentes fortuna iuvat”: Fortune favors the bold
Until October,
Aadya Gupta,
Deputy Secretary General,
Sri Sri Academy Kolkata Model United Nations 2026
